Masterminds let you share your knowledge with the world

Mastermind Groups foster learning and collaboration

It’s not a secret that I LOVE learning new things from smart people and lately my favorite path to enlightenment has come from Mastermind Groups – both being a member of and facilitating them.

Never heard of them? A mastermind group is a peer-to-peer mentoring concept used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members. The concept was coined in 1925 by author Napoleon Hill in his book The Law of Success, and described in more detail in his 1937 book, Think and Grow Rich (a personal favorite of mine).

Do you have a skillset or program that you want to share with the world? Something that you just know will make a huge impact or difference to people in your network or industry? Let’s get on the phone and figure out if hosting a Mastermind event makes sense.  No obligation, let’s ferret out if it makes sense – and of course I’ll explain how Red Barn does all the heavy lifting!

What is a Mastermind

Sharing your knowledge

Should I launch a Mastermind?

Having an idea for a Mastermind is great, but launching a Mastermind is a whole different animal. But there is something magical that can help when do correctly – a synergy of energy, commitment, and excitement among the participants. What really makes a Mastermind beautiful is that participants raise the bar by challenging each other to create and implement goals, brainstorm ideas, and support each other with total honesty, respect and compassion. Mastermind participants act as catalysts for growth, devil’s advocates, and supportive colleagues.

Masterminds can come in all shapes and sizes – local in-person monthly meet-ups to multi-day destination intensives to online only forums. There’s no set rule on how your Mastermind has to function but it does have to provide value to the people that join, provide solutions to problems, engage participants, and of course provide a place for people to share feedback, ideas, and collaborate.

How to start a Mastermind

Craft your solution

Discovering what problems people struggle with is only half the battle. Being able to provide them with a solution is what a Mastermind is all about. You need to provide your members with a way to solve their issues by providing them guidance and a road map.

Find your audience

Who will your Mastermind benefit – who is your target client. You need to have a very specific target and group of people that you want to work with and help. Whether it’s in person or online doesn’t matter, but what does matter is that you have the right people in the proverbial seats.

Define your program

Determine the best way to help your tribe – is it in person, online, a mix of both? How often will you meet up or engage online? Will you work with only local people or people across the country? What does your toolkit look like? How will you engage your tribe? What will you charge?
