[ThursdayClub] Surrender

Happy Friday!

I penned this mid-morning yesterday.  It’s cold, raw, and raining here in CT and while most people are complaining about the passing of the autumnal colors and fretting about the pending snow – I’m sitting here in gratitude.  My RV is like having a tin roof – so the sound of the rain is incredibly soothing. Add in the howling winds and it just makes for some awesome creative time in my head.  Today I’m a writing fool.

Which leads to today’s topic of Surrender.

Often when we are stuck it’s because we can’t accept – or are unwilling to accept – our current situation.  For many now it’s Covid.  I don’t have this, I don’t have that – I can’t because….etc.

Remember – your “Stuckness” is temporary since we live in a fluid state, every moment is different from the past, and nothing lasts forever.  It’s temporary unless you continue to hold on to it.

Deep thinking I know…this is important so stick with me (no pun intended).

It’s time to Surrender.

Surrender doesn’t mean giving in to whatever shit show you may be experiencing now – it’s about accepting the reality of the situation and figuring out how to pivot, shift, and adjust.

Yes – it’s about being resourceful.

Covid sucks.  It just does.  There’s nothing fun about it.  It’s stressful, we are constantly reminded of the pandemic.

Surrender to the fact that this is our reality now.  You can choose to succumb to the darkness of it all, or you can choose to accept and adjust.

Focusing makes the mountain bigger

Remember your mind is powerful.  What you feed into it makes it thrive.

Focusing on what has you stuck only makes that mountain bigger – make sense?

I just coached a colleague yesterday about being stuck in her career.  I asked her what she really wanted to do in life?  What is her 2.0?

She couldn’t answer because she was too focused on her current situation – it was consuming her.  Her homework is to surrender to what is AND focus on what she really wants.  I prompted her to make her crazy list of things she wanted to do in her life – nothing was off the table – NOTHING.

Instead of focusing on what she doesn’t have in her career – accept it for what it is and focus on the alternative or what’s next.  By the end of the conversation, she was smiling, hopeful, and we had a game plan to move forward.

Hope this is helpful.  Remember your life is one big journey – it’s your journey, no one else’s.  You create the script, the story, and you 100% choose how to be the lead character in your novel.

I often say “It is what it is”  – this is my surrender.  I can only control my actions and how I react to situations – I can’t control the universe.

Your homework is to be honest with yourself.  What are you focusing on that’s negative?  Is it Covid?  Is it work?  Is it fear?

Surrender.

Have an awesome weekend! Don’t forget to share in the FB Group or in the forum – AND I’m always here to answer any questions you may have.
