| Happy fri-YAY Jenn!
This month in the Thursday Club we are talking about getting unstuck. All the personal development reading, learning, and coaching are futile if you aren’t taking action to do the hard stuff. You know what I’m talking about because we all (including this girl) have hard stuff. You have to pop your bubble. We often have this “fake” reason for not doing something. Or we blame others or things for what is happening in our life. The latest is Covid. Because of Covid, I can’t do this, or I can’t do that. Look in the mirror and be honest. If you want to move beyond stuck, you have to master self-awareness. In other words, you need to be able to recognize the REAL reasons behind your actions and stop making excuses. Is it easy? No. Is it necessary? Yes. Our minds are quite brilliant – they react to our thoughts. I was chatting with my coach the other day and said to him “I’m not great on the phone – but there are times I NEED to be on the phone – so can you help me and give me some tips”. He laughed – quite the jovial belly laugh and said, “Cindy, you are a professional marketer and storyteller, I’m talking to you on the phone right now – you are AMAZING on the phone.” So what made me think I was horrible on the phone? I equated all “phone calls” with these. Because I was unsuccessful selling by phone, I began telling myself I suck at connecting with people on the phone. Do you see where I’m going here? I don’t suck on the phone, yet years of programming led to me telling my brain just that. I wasn’t SELF-AWARE of the connection. My homework is to move beyond this – so I’m setting PHONE appointments with some of my customers and prospects. Not to sell them anything, but to do what I do – CONNECT with them, learn more about them and understand how I might be able to help them better. I’m trying to reprogram my brain. The only way to do that, is to push outside the comfort zone and make lots of phone appointments to SHOW myself that I’m just fine. 🙂 Self-Reflection – Ask yourself these questions: · Am I the person I want to be? · What is my life like? Is it what I hoped? If not, why? · Am I doing the work that I thought I would be doing? If not, Why? · Are my relationships succeeding? If not, why? |
Now choose one thing to work on over the next month and dig deep as to what you’ve programmed your brain to think versus what the reality is.
What is holding you back on this one thing?
