Time to Breathe
Good morning and Happy FRI-YAY!
I know, I know – the days are blending and most of us don’t know if it’s Friday or Tuesday – but I checked my calendar and indeed today is Friday.
Yesterday we had an AMAZING session with Peter Callahan of Fresh Perspectives and Copper Beech Institute. We talked about coping, self-care and how to recognize what is bringing us down. I even shared my Mimosa meltdown on Easter. CHECK OUT THE REPLAY
Peter brought us through some mediation, and it was powerful. PLUS I learned that it’s not about shutting your brain off, it’s about recognizing where you are and how you are reacting to the situation.
Sometimes you have to stop and just breathe. Self-care is critical – that doesn’t necessarily mean a spa day – hey, we all need a haircut and a mani/pedi – I get it! What it means is you just need to take time to honor YOU and know that everyone reacts differently to situations.
Remember…
We have zero control about what happens in the world and what others will do – we 100% have power over how we react.
If you wake up thinking today is going to be crappy – guess what, chances are you are right. It will indeed be crappy.
HOMEWORK
Watch the video, and go through the meditation
Block time in your calendar for you. Peter suggested the greatest minds in the world only worked in short blocks 50 or so minutes working and then 15-17 minutes off. Try it. Don’t grind for hours and feel depleted. Work and honor you with a break. That could be a meal, a walk, a mediation, a nap, a book – anything but deep intense grinding work that may drain you.
Forgive yourself. Newsflash – everyone has an epic zoom fail, everyone needs a haircut, everyone has worked days in their PJs, everyone is in the same boat – but there are others who have it far worse than you do. Forgive yourself, know that it’s OK.
Stop watching the news 24/7. Not much to be said about that. Just stop. It serves you no purpose.
Do watch/read uplifting content. Have you seen SGN yet? OMG – if you haven’t – do it. Some Good News with John Krasinski is one of the best things out of COVID 19. CHECK IT OUT
Some new worksheets are posted on Time Blocking and Mindfulness – go check them out!
Have an amazing weekend. Do something nice for yourself. Maybe it’s some Andrea Bocelli while drinking a good Chianti? Maybe it’s a walk in the woods? Maybe it’s just 5 minutes in your car alone, with a cup of coffee away from it all.
You deserve it.
You need it.
Big love,
Cindy
