[ThursdayClub] Forget the end game
I just wrapped up my 30 Day program with my mastermind group TODAY! What a month – and man did I learn a ton.
The #1 lesson: The process of getting to the goal is far more important than the goal. Yep I said it – forget about the end game. This is a big one for me because I’m a goal-orientated let’s grind and get ‘er done kind of girl! Here’s what I mean: 1. True success doesn’t happen because you hit your goal, true success happens with the lessons you learn along the way – the knowledge you gain, the expertise you gain, and the NEW habits you learn. 2. True success happens when your mindset shifts, and you begin to become the person you are aspiring to be. |
Think about that for a minute.
Did you ever work so hard to get to that big goal that you miss the magic of the journey?
Truth be told – this is the true gift Covid has given us – at least me. I (and hopefully you) have been forced to slow down, to hop out of the rat race (somewhat), and spend time with yourself.
Sure, I miss people and traveling – hell my life is all about traveling! #RVLife. Yet – there is something magical about being able to spend time within my head.
There’s something magical about taking time to embrace the journey – even the hard parts.
I experienced this yesterday when I sat down to paint. Several people were asking me to make my watercolor holiday cards again. I usually paint a bunch, sell them – give them away. It’s my holiday “thing”.
Yesterday I got out all my paints and the creativity just wasn’t happening. Why? Because I was forcing it – I was focusing on “Getting the damn cards painted’ – I felt pressure to make it happen.
I got frustrated and put them away – some half-painted cards ended up in a pile.
(sigh) – I was focused on the end game instead of focusing on just painting and letting the creativity happen. Wet paint on paper – letting the colors flow and mesh.
Guess what I’m doing this afternoon?
That’s my lesson as we wrap up your 30 day Transformation. Stop thinking about it being over – embrace the moment and grow.
